Client Project | A Mediterranean Kitchen by Justine Decoration, Styled with Port Cros Wallpaper
A Kitchen That Invites Escape
For this project, interior decorator Justine Decoration (@justine_decoration) set out to turn a kitchen into a true Mediterranean escape. The starting point: the Port Cros wallpaper, mounted as a mural above the countertop, catching the eye the moment you step into the room.

Port Cros Wallpaper, a Painting of a Wild Island
Created by artist Francesco Battista, this wallpaper pays tribute to the island of Port Cros and its Baie de la Palud, on its northern coast. Rendered in flat blocks of colour, the illustration captures the shifting blues of the sea, umbrella pines and Mediterranean scrubland, like a painting applied straight onto the wall. It's this painterly treatment, far removed from photography, that gives the room its artistic and timeless character.
A Considered Colour Palette: Olive Green, Wood and Black
The choice of wallpaper is paired here with a perfectly matched palette: a side wall painted in deep olive green, a light-coloured countertop, natural wood furniture and black chairs with metal frames. The result is a warm, contemporary kitchen where the wallpaper becomes the focal point without overwhelming the rest of the decor. The pleated fabric pendant lights above the dining table soften the whole space.
A Living Space, Designed for Gathering
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the space was designed for entertaining: a large solid wood table, plenty of seating for guests, and an open layout between kitchen and dining area. The Port Cros wallpaper acts as an open window onto the Mediterranean, in every season.
