A Bedroom Nook That Invites You to Dream

For this project, interior designer Johanne Derock (@johannederock_cosyside) transformed a bedroom nook into a true night-time cocoon with the Éclipse wallpaper, custom-made to perfectly fit the curves of the alcove. Framed by bespoke midnight-blue joinery, this wall nook catches the eye instantly and creates a soothing atmosphere, ideal for falling asleep.

Éclipse Wallpaper, an Ode to the Night Sky

The 'Eclipse' design evokes the mysteries of the sky: a peaceful night-time vision, finely crafted, where stars and planets converse in chiaroscuro with nature. A starlit mood, perfect for escaping and stargazing, carrying you toward the vastness of the Milky Way. This engraving and colour work was created by artists Isabelle Parmentier and Martine Dubreucq, whose distinctive graphic style gives the wallpaper the look of an antique engraving.

How to Decorate a Wall Nook: This Bedroom's Example

Around the bed, Johanne Derock built in shelving within the nook to display a few carefully chosen objects: gold bird figurines, a wire basket filled with books, and a mushroom lamp in frosted glass and brass. A wall nook is a recess built into a wall or piece of furniture, often used to fit a bed, shelving, or storage while helping to structure a room's layout.

What is the ideal depth for a wall nook?

For a bed nook like this one, a depth of around 20 to 40 cm is usually enough to create an alcove effect without taking up too much of the bedroom's space. For simple shelving, just a few centimetres of depth can be enough depending on the objects displayed.
